Ruth Borchard Collection

The Ruth Borchard Collection was the lifelong project of Ruth Borchard (1910-2000). Dedicated to self-portraiture it is an unparalleled body of work that tells a story of the cultural diversity of post-war British society. Alongside the Collection the Ruth Borchard Biennial Self Portrait Prize is a critically acclaimed contemporary art award that offers artists from all backgrounds the opportunity to compete for £10,000 and chance to have their work acquired by the Collection. Regularly acquiring new works, the Collection now consists of the Original Collection, the Early Collection and, the Next Generation Collection.
